Retired on Lake Conway
Arkansas's Great Fishing Lake

BTW: Three additional sites have basic fishing tips, Catfish Fish Blog and YouTube Mostly Catfish Video

This page is 'sorta' a continuation of my About Me page which I stopped keeping up to date a couple years ago - when I retired / moved to Lake Conway (at Mayflower, Arkansas). My 'about me' page is mainly boring history crap (punt intended :). This page is about things I do now while sitting around on My Lake (a public lake that I let some people use without throwing rocks at them = Lake Conway).

Site was started 01/2007 with winter water birds that I see on Lake Conway (usually around my fishing pier :). Now I'm adding fishing pictures n video on youtube and my blog (if I ever stop catching fish long enough :) I hope my brush pile makes this the hottest fishing hole on Lake Conway - and I can get fishing video as other people fish my brush pile:

I am only showing pictures of 'creatures' that I see at my fishing pier or within Zoom range for my 40x camcorder. The Whatbird.com web site has tons of info, including an Arkansas Birds link page. And the AGFC (Arkansas Game n Fishing Commission has 'fish' pictures / identification / rules / regulations

VIP: More video at youtube

I have so many video files I decided to spread them around. I'll keep adding more to my Music CD and will add more video at youTube. So if you want to just 'see' (e.g. No music files) go to:
youtube.com/ARKIEPRINCE
Sorry can't afford to upload the music video's - those are burned on CD that I can enjoy when weather keeps me inside :)

Winter Birds 2006-2007

I plan to rotate .wmv / video music files - one at a time. Video/music files are too large for loading all at once so I have a CD that I give to local friends / neighbors. The current featured music video is:
Northern Shoveler (File: 5megs)
Music Hint: MyParty...cry if..

The Bufflehead is my favorite winter visitor in front of my place. btw: I usually only show the male because in most cases the male duck is the one that is more colorful.

I have a lot of video and/or music video but the video files are so large that they download slow and use a lot of bandwidth. Here is one small video example with 'voice over': bufflehead on Lake Conway.

Notes about birds: The females are often more drab colors. The males are 'usually' bright colored - more attractive - so they can attract the attention of predators. The male will try to lead the intruders away from the female and/or nest i.e. the female hides while the male tries not to become 'supper' :)

Since I'm Lazy retired, I'll post a picture of some of my bird friends with a link to the What-a-Bird site. They do a great job of giving a short description of the birds I've seen around the lake :)

A few of the birds I've seen are not that common for Lake Conway. For example, I felt very lucky to see a couple of Northern Shoveler. I was even lucky enough to make a music video of one of them feeding e.g. they run along the surface with their 'wide mouth open' :)

Bottom line: This is my current life - retired on Lake Conway, Arkansas. My story is presented with pictures and/or music video. I'm too busy being retired to find time to write much - so I hope you enjoy the pictures (and current featured video). BTW: We are having a beautiful spring and the fishing is 'hot' on Lake Conway (especially the crappie). Therefore, it may be the end of the summer before I get time to do a fishing video. However, here is one hint - a blank blank bass fishman got a big bass out of MY BRUSH pile - and I hadn't taken time to fish that side of my brush pile - shame on me :)

July 4 2007 update: The Crappie are gone or at least the big ones are not biting in the heat. The BIG blue catfish are not moving into the flat area in front of my house so I'm blue that I can't find any blues (catfish). I have picked up a few channel catfish but they are slow and small (biggest has been 7 lbs).

Another bottom line (or wrap up): Lake Conway may not be the biggest lake in Arkansas and it sure isn't deep at all. But I bet this lake has more stumps to hit with your boat - especially when it's been dry like this year. If you found this site while looking for big lakes in Arkansas you need to check out the Lakes in Arkansas List showing the largest and deepest lakes in the state - and also the most popular fish (In their opinion :) = but then again they are bias because they fish for striped bass :) :)
